- Description: Samsung Wallet adds USDC transfers for eligible US Galaxy users in late October 2026. How it works: Bastion, Coinbase Prime, Solana, Sui, fees and limits.

In July, Samsung showed a stablecoin mockup and named nothing. On October 7, 2026, it named everything: USDC first, Bastion as custodian, Coinbase Prime Vault as sub-custodian, Solana and Sui as networks, and a launch in the last week of October across 82 million eligible U.S. Galaxy devices ([Samsung Electronics America](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)).

That turns Samsung Wallet USDC from a keynote slide into a dated product with a partner list, eligibility rules and a fee policy.

This post covers what launches, who runs each layer, what changed since Galaxy Unpacked, what it costs, and where the limits are.

📌

As of October 8, 2026: Samsung Wallet USDC isn't live yet. Samsung says the feature arrives in the last week of October 2026 for eligible U.S. users, with USDC as the only supported stablecoin at launch ([Samsung announcement](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)).

## Key Takeaways

- Samsung Wallet USDC launches the last week of October 2026 for eligible U.S. Galaxy users.
- Bastion is the licensed custodian; Coinbase Prime Vault holds the USDC as sub-custodian.
- Solana and Sui provide the networks; users don't manage private keys.
- Samsung charges no fee for USDC sent to external wallets; bank payouts in 60+ countries carry fees.
- Eligibility: U.S. residents 18+, Android 13 or higher, identity verification and biometrics.

## What Samsung Announced on October 7, 2026

Samsung Electronics America said stablecoin wallet functionality will launch inside Samsung Wallet in the last week of October, and that it will initially support USDC ([Samsung](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)).

The launch footprint is 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices, which Samsung defines as Galaxy devices in the U.S. that are compatible with Samsung Wallet ([Samsung footnote 2](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)). That's a device count, not a user count.

"We're bringing USDC transfers into Samsung Wallet so eligible Galaxy users can get started without installing another app or managing private keys themselves," said Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung's Mobile eXperience business ([Samsung](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)).

Users will be able to do two things at launch:

- Send USDC to compatible crypto wallets internationally, with no Samsung transfer fee ([Samsung footnote 3](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)).
- Send money to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with the recipient paid in local currency and fees shown in the app before confirming ([Samsung footnote 4](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)).

Samsung also flagged later features that aren't part of the launch: paying with stablecoins online or by tapping a Galaxy device in store, and expansion into other countries as local rules allow.

## Who Runs Each Layer of Samsung Wallet USDC

Samsung is explicit that it isn't a bank, money transmitter or digital asset custodian, and that it doesn't hold customer funds ([Samsung footnote 5](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)). The money side sits with partners.

Bastion is the piece most readers won't know. It holds a New York trust charter through Bastion Platforms Trust Company, LLC, has conditional OCC approval for a national trust bank charter, and its operating entity is a FinCEN-registered money services business with state money transmitter licenses ([Bastion](https://bastion.com/article/bastion-receives-conditional-occ-approval)). Stablecoin Insider tracks providers like it in the [stablecoin-as-a-service guide](https://stablecoininsider.org/stablecoin-as-a-service-2026/).

Coinbase framed its part as distribution. "Samsung's global reach makes this a significant distribution milestone for USDC," said Alec Lovett, Coinbase's head of infrastructure products ([The Block](https://www.theblock.co/news/business/2026-10-07-samsung-to-launch-usdc-transfers-on-solana-for-us-galaxy-users-418004)). ## What Changed Since Galaxy Unpacked in July

At Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, 2026, Samsung showed a USDC mockup but confirmed no stablecoin, date, region or partner. Stablecoin Insider covered that preview here:

The Coinbase link isn't new either. On October 3, 2025, Samsung Wallet added Coinbase access for what Coinbase called more than 75 million U.S. Galaxy users ([Samsung Newsroom](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-offers-users-special-access-coinbase-one)). The device base Samsung cites has grown to 82 million, and the product has moved from Coinbase One perks to USDC held inside Samsung's own wallet.

## Eligibility, Fees and Limits

Samsung's footnotes carry most of the fine print ([Samsung footnotes 1 to 5](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)):

- Users must be U.S. residents aged 18 or older with a Samsung Account, on a Samsung Wallet compatible Galaxy device running Android 13 or higher ([Samsung](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)).
- Account registration, identity verification and biometric setup are required before a first transfer.
- Samsung doesn't charge for USDC sent to external wallets, but the receiving wallet or exchange may charge its own fees.
- Bank transfers carry fees that vary by destination country and amount; the app shows the fee and an estimated delivery time before you confirm.
- Transfers to sanctioned jurisdictions are prohibited, and some recipient banks or account types won't be supported.

⚠️

Named limit: "no private keys" doesn't mean self-custody. Your USDC sits with Bastion and Coinbase Prime Vault under partner terms, and Samsung hasn't published the bank payout fee schedule or the full country list yet. Check both in the app before relying on it for a family remittance ([Samsung footnotes](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)).

## Stablecoin Insider's Analysis: What the Remittance Math Looks Like

The World Bank puts the global average cost of sending a remittance at 6.36% of the amount sent ([World Bank Remittance Prices Worldwide](https://remittanceprices.worldbank.org/)). Here's how that compares with what Samsung has disclosed so far.

- On a $500 transfer, the 6.36% global average works out to $31.80 in costs ([World Bank](https://remittanceprices.worldbank.org/)).
- On a $200 transfer, the same average is $12.72 ([World Bank](https://remittanceprices.worldbank.org/)).
- The Samsung Wallet USDC route to an external wallet carries $0 in Samsung fees, and Sui says gasless USDC transfers cost $0.00 at the network level ([Sui](https://www.sui.io/blog/samsung-collaborates-with-sui-to-bring-usdc-to-samsung-wallet-on-82-million-u-s-galaxy-devices)).

That last line is the best case, not the full cost. The recipient still has to turn USDC into local money, and that cash-out fee depends on their exchange or wallet. The bank payout route avoids that step, but its fee is "varies by destination," so nobody can benchmark it until the app goes live.

Stablecoin Insider's read: the wallet-to-wallet route will beat the 6.36% average for recipients who already hold a USDC-friendly wallet with cheap local cash-out. For everyone else, the bank payout fee is the number that decides whether this competes with remittance apps, and Samsung hasn't shown it.

## What 82 Million Devices Could Mean for USDC Supply

USDC circulating supply was about $73.78 billion on October 8, 2026, down from about $74.51 billion a month earlier, according to [DefiLlama](https://defillama.com/stablecoin/usd-coin). Here's an illustrative scenario, not a forecast, using Samsung's 82 million device count ([Samsung](https://news.samsung.com/us/samsung-wallet-bring-stablecoin-access-eligible-galaxy-users-us/)):

- If 1% of 82 million devices (820,000) held an average $100 balance, that's $82 million of USDC, about 0.11% of the $73.78 billion supply ([DefiLlama](https://defillama.com/stablecoin/usd-coin)).
- If 10% (8.2 million) held $500 each, that's $4.1 billion, about 5.6% of current USDC supply ([DefiLlama](https://defillama.com/stablecoin/usd-coin)).
- For scale on the networks: USDC on Solana is about $6.95 billion and USDC on Sui about $309 million, so even the 1% case equals roughly 27% of the USDC currently on Sui ([DefiLlama](https://defillama.com/stablecoin/usd-coin)).

The point isn't the exact number. It's that a modest uptake on Samsung devices would be a large event for Sui's USDC float and a rounding error for USDC overall. It also helps explain why Sui and Solana each published their own announcement.

## Why Samsung Picked Two Networks

Each network brings a different selling point. The Solana Foundation says stablecoin supply on Solana is up nearly 20% year over year and that the network processed more than $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume in 2026 ([Solana Foundation via PR Newswire](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/samsung-partners-with-solana-to-natively-deliver-stablecoins-in-samsung-wallet-to-82-million-us-galaxy-devices-302901200.html)). DefiLlama shows about $16.27 billion of stablecoins on Solana ([DefiLlama chains](https://defillama.com/stablecoins/chains)).

Sui leads with cost. It says gasless stablecoin transfers went live on mainnet in May 2026, so a USDC sender doesn't need to hold SUI, and that Sui has processed more than $1 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume since August 2025 ([Sui](https://www.sui.io/blog/samsung-collaborates-with-sui-to-bring-usdc-to-samsung-wallet-on-82-million-u-s-galaxy-devices)). If you're new to Sui's stablecoin stack, start with the [USDsui explainer](https://stablecoininsider.org/sui-usdsui-stablecoin/).

"Samsung's decision to work with Solana puts digital dollars into everyday life," said Lily Liu, President of the Solana Foundation ([PR Newswire](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/samsung-partners-with-solana-to-natively-deliver-stablecoins-in-samsung-wallet-to-82-million-us-galaxy-devices-302901200.html)).

Neither Samsung nor its partners has said which network handles which transfer, or whether users will choose. For senders, that matters less than whether the recipient's wallet supports USDC on the same network, which is exactly what Samsung's "compatible wallets" footnote is warning about.

## Stablecoin Insider's Take

Stablecoin Insider's take: this is one of the biggest consumer distribution wins USDC has landed in 2026, and the October 7 announcement is far more concrete than the July preview. It names a regulated custodian, a qualified sub-custodian, two networks, a date and a fee policy.

The downside is just as clear. It's U.S.-only, it's custodial, the bank payout fees are undisclosed, and tap-to-pay is a "future capability," not a launch feature. Samsung itself ties the launch to the establishment of a U.S. stablecoin framework, so international expansion will move at the pace of each country's regulator, not Samsung's product team. The GENIUS Act timeline is covered in the [GENIUS Act deadline explainer](https://stablecoininsider.org/genius-act-2028-deadline-stablecoins/).

## What to Watch Before and After Launch

- The in-app fee table and country list for bank payouts, once the feature goes live in the last week of October.
- Which network, Solana or Sui, carries a given transfer, and whether users can pick.
- Any timeline for tap-to-pay with USDC or for a first market outside the U.S., including Korea, where [Samsung affiliates are already in won stablecoin talks](https://stablecoininsider.org/south-korea-stablecoin-revolution/).
- Whether Bastion's conditional OCC approval turns into a full national trust bank charter.
